Pitt County program allows residents to foster pets over the holiday season

PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – If you’re thinking about getting a pet but not quite ready for the commitment, animal services in one Eastern Carolina county has just the program for you!

Pitt County Animal Services announced its holiday foster program “Home for the Howlidays” will begin on December 18th. It is a short-term program designed to get dogs and cats out of the shelter during the holiday season.

PCAS says it will supply food, bowls, toys, and blankets for all foster pets. Dogs and puppies will come with a leash and crate while cats and kittens will have a collar and carrier.

“Home for the Howlidays is perfect for those who have not fostered before but are interested in fostering for a short period,” says Tiffany Peterson, animal services director. “It’s the season for giving! We hope residents accept our invitation to give the animals a calm and bright home for the holidays.”
